Basam Books is an independent publishing house located in Helsinki, Finland. Basam Books was established in 1993 and is currently publishing 35-40 titles per year. We are known for high-quality translations of literary fiction, poetry, and non-fiction.

Basam Books publishes books on many different areas of life and literature. We have published titles on Asian and Middle-Eastern literature, Eastern and Western Philosophy and Religion, as well as on spriritual growth from many varying aspects. Our goal is to make literary works from linguistic areas and cultures that have not been translated into Finnish, accessible for Finnish readers. Translations are always made directly from the original language into Finnish. We have published works from Arabic, Persian, Tibetan, Sanskrit, Pali, Chinese, and Japanese, among other more familiar western languages as English, Swedish, Spanish and French, to mention some.

The WISE LIFE series consists of high-quality books about spiritual growth, meditation and psychology
PERENNIAL CLASSICS includes works such as the ancient Mesopotamian epic Gilgamesh, the Egyptian Book of the Dead, Bhagavad Gita and the some of the most important literary jewels of Persian culture.
SHAKTI series presents more commercial and contemporary literature, women’s literature and erotic titles.
We also publish non-fiction titles on sex and sexuality.
